Thanks, John. Yes, I do get frustrated with autism advocates who refuse to acknowledge any of the disadvantages that come from autism, too. But — for some people — autism can definitely be an advantage as well as a disadvantage. My son is genuinely smarter than I am in certain ways. Just this morning, I found out that he has edited 900 Wikipedia entries about video games. I think that we must advocate for all kinds of PWD, including those with unusual talents that are directly tied to their diagnosis.
